【VMC Vets Tips | Understanding Dog’s Body Language - Happy and Relaxed】

Your dog barks, whines, growls, and makes different sounds to communicate with the world. Is that all? No! More often, though, dogs rely on nonverbal body language too. Understanding what your dog is saying via its body posture and facial expression can give you a lot of useful information. You will know when your dog is happy, nervous, or might be ready to snap at someone. Let's explore the signs when our furry friend is happy:

When feeling happy and relaxed

The dog will have a softly wagging tail, and soft eyes and may cock its head in an interesting way if you talk to it. The dog will likely lean into you during petting. These are distance-decreasing signals, which means the dog is happy to interact with you. If you see a ‘play bow’, when a dog lowers their front end until elbows are on the ground, tail wagging, and butt in the air, that means the dog would like to play with you.

Want to know how our furry friend reacts when anxious or angry? You will find more in our next 【VMC Vets Tips】post!
