Fiberact® — Blond Psyllium Husk Powder for Digestive Transit (100 g)
Target Animal : Dogs and Cats
Packaging: 100 g pot of powder. Dose by teaspoon (1 level teaspoon ≈ 2 g). Raw material of agricultural origin: colour may vary from white to grey between harvests. Store in a dry place, keep pot closed.
Ingredients: 100% blond psyllium husk powder (Plantago ovata seed teguments). Raw material for animal feed. No cereals, no flavouring, no filler.
Key Benefits:
• Simple ingredient list: 100% psyllium husk powder, with no cereals, flavouring or filler
• Easier trips to the toilet: forms a soft gel in the gut that softens hard stools so they pass more comfortably
• Helps with loose stools too: the same water-binding action helps stools form up
• Helps pass hairballs: traps swallowed hair so it leaves with the stool, especially useful for cats during moulting season
• Works quickly: in a published study, more than 90% of dogs and cats with hard stools showed visible improvement within 4 days
• Easy to give: just mix into food; 82% of dog owners and 70% of cat owners found it easy to use
• No need to change food: add it to your pet's current diet, including a vet-prescribed diet
Indications:
• Slow intestinal transit and hard stools (low-fibre diet, stress, obesity, lack of exercise, megacolon, anal sac disorders)
• Constipation in cats and dogs, as a complement to the prescribed diet
• Hairballs in cats: evacuation, and prevention during moulting
• Loose stools: to improve stool consistency (fibre-responsive large-bowel diarrhoea in dogs)
• To complete a home-made diet with fibre
Directions for Use:
Dogs: 1 teaspoon (≈ 2 g) per 10 kg body weight per day.
Cats: ½ teaspoon per day.
Mix into food. The amount can be doubled if necessary. Ensure the animal always has water available; moisten kibble if needed. In the product study, 7 days of daily use was assessed; longer use is possible under veterinary advice.
By weight: cat ½ tsp; dog up to 10 kg 1 tsp; 10–20 kg 2 tsp; 20–30 kg 3 tsp; 30–40 kg 4 tsp.
Mechanism of Action:
Psyllium husk mucilage (arabinoxylan polysaccharide) is soluble but poorly fermentable. It attracts water in the gut and forms a gel that is not absorbed. In hard stools the gel increases faecal bulk and softness, stimulating peristalsis and easing passage. In loose stools the same water-binding capacity normalises consistency. The gel also traps ingested hair and carries it out with the faeces, supporting hairball management in cats. Product survey (46 cats, 44 dogs, faecal score 4–5/5, 2 g/10 kg/day for 7 days): visible response in under 4 days for more than 90% of animals; significant reduction in straining, pain on defecation, abdominal pain, blood traces and hair in stools (p < 0.05).
