Uro-Nephrology / Electrolyte Support
Target Animal :
Cats (primary); dogs as directed by veterinarian
Ingredients :
Per capsule:
Potassium gluconate — 2 mEq potassium (468 mg potassium gluconate)
Bovine gelatin (capsule shell)
Magnesium stearate
Analytical: crude protein 15.7%, crude fibre 0.4%, crude fat 0.5%, crude ash 25.4%.
Key Benefits :
• 2 mEq potassium per capsule — clinically meaningful dose for hypokalaemia
• Gluconate salt — better GI tolerability than potassium chloride
• Aligned with ISFM consensus guidelines for oral potassium supplementation in CKD cats
• Capsule format — swallow whole or open and mix into food
Indications :
• Hypokalaemia secondary to chronic kidney disease (affects 20–30% of CKD cats)
• Muscle weakness from potassium depletion
• Polymyopathy (ventroflexion of the neck)
• Maintenance of normal potassium levels in cats on diuretic therapy
• Adjunct to renal diet in CKD management
• Do NOT use in hyperkalaemia. Regularly monitor serum potassium.
Directions for Use :
Cats: 1 capsule morning and evening.
Dogs: as directed — generally 1–2 capsules per day per 5 kg body weight.
Swallow directly during a meal, or open and mix in food. Veterinary supervision required. Store in a dry place.
Mechanism of Action :
Direct oral potassium replacement using the gluconate salt, better tolerated by the feline GI tract than potassium chloride. Replenishes the cellular and serum potassium pool depleted by polyuria, anorexia and renal tubular dysfunction in CKD cats.
